Safeguarding Statement

First We Listen is committed to treating people with dignity, respect and care. We take safeguarding seriously and aim to respond appropriately if concerns arise.

1. Our commitment

We aim to create a safe, respectful and non-judgemental environment for adults, children, young people, families, carers, volunteers, teams and organisations.

2. Limits to confidentiality

Most information shared with us is treated carefully and respectfully. However, confidentiality is not absolute. If we believe someone may be at risk of harm, we may need to share relevant information with an appropriate safeguarding service, emergency service or professional body.

3. What we do not provide

We are not a crisis service, emergency service, social care service, counselling service, regulated care provider, medical service or therapeutic service.

4. If someone is in immediate danger

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent medical help, use NHS 111. For urgent mental health crisis support, use NHS 111 and choose the mental health option where available.

5. Online and group work

For online sessions, talks or training, we ask participants to use respectful communication and to avoid sharing unnecessary personal details about other people. Group sessions are educational and are not a substitute for individual professional advice or crisis support.

6. Raising a concern

If you have a safeguarding concern connected to First We Listen, please email contact@firstwelisten.co.uk. If the concern is urgent or someone is unsafe, contact emergency or local safeguarding services directly.
